Proteins = 44-76%, Lipids = 20-53%, Carbohydrates = 1-8%, (Protein-Lipid ratio = 0.8 : 1 to 4 : 1)
Most of lipid are "Phospholipids" which are amphipathic/ amphiatic in nature.
Other lipids are - Sphingomyelins, Cerebrosides, gangliosides, cholesterol.
Sterols are more rigid than phospholipids.
Cholesterol present in eukaryotic membrane confer stability.
Proteins are generally globular.
Carbohydrates present in PM are oligosacccharides.
Carbohydrates don't occur freely.
Carbohydrates attached to external surface of lipids and surface proteins forming respectively glycolipids and glycoproteins.
