Composite Aspect Ratio
The length ratio of a reinforcing fibre to its diameter is termed as aspect ratio. In the so-termed as fibre reinforced plastics or composites the aspect ratio is better than 100. Though, if aspect ratio is less than 180 but greater than 10 further the reinforcing phase is termed as whisker. If length of fibres is still smaller that is the aspect ratio is less than 10 further the reinforcing phase is phrased particulate. The particles, mostly called dispersoid in concerning to their reinforcing action are being employed increasingly to generated particulate reinforced composite and present various advantages over fibre reinforcement. Conversely, such reinforcements are better utilized in metal matrix than plastic matrix. The size of particles might be varying from 0.1 to 1 µm whether composite is termed dispersion reinforced. Whether reinforcing particles are greater than 1.0 µm in size than we acquires particle reinforced composite.
