Assignment: Research Paper- First Draft
Directions
Compose a first draft of your research position paper on the topic you have chosen. This first draft needs to be at least 750 words. (The title page and references pages do not count toward the word count.) Remember, the final draft in Week 8 shall be a minimum of 1000 words.
The paper should contain the following elements (of course, each of these elements can be more than one paragraph):
A. Introduction
a. An introduction that previews the topic and brings the reader into the existing conversation, offers a balanced discussion of the essential perspectives/positions on your topic, and provides a precise, persuasive, and pertinent thesis that encapsulates your position on the topic
B. Body of the Essay
a. Sufficient and varied evidence to support your position throughout the paper, including logical reasoning and facts/data
b. Sufficient clarification of the relationship(s) between essential perspectives (including yours)
c. Anticipation and refutation of counter-arguments or common objections to your position
C. Conclusion
a. A conclusion that demonstrates the relevance and impact of your topic and your position
Format your assignment according to the give formatting requirements:
a. The answer must be double spaced, typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
b. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the course title, the student's name, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
c. Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
