Cover Page: MLA assignments do not require a cover page. Please update before submitting the final copy.

MLA Labels: Label all tasks for this class as specified by MLA guidelines. For specifics, review the example assignments in the handbook. Labeling is only required on the first page. Do not use headers unless you are inserting page numbers in the top right corner.

Focus specifically on cover page requirements, margins, line spacing, and paragraph structure. Also review handbook pages 96, 103, and 108 for examples formatted for this class.

References: References are not required for MLA assignments in this class. The requirement is a 600-800-word response.

Draft Quality: The draft mostly follows the required format. However, there are a few errors. Conduct a thorough review based on all information provided in class and in the text. Then submit before the Canvas deadline.

ENC 1101 Introduction: The introduction should include a strong hook or attention-getter, a correctly formatted thesis statement, and clear topic sentences that preview the main points to be developed in the body paragraphs. Since it is also a paragraph, it should be at least 100 words.

Title: The Special Skills of Two Special Basketball Players (Comparison)

The Special Skills of Two Special Basketball Players

The best basketball player of all times, a subject to discuss is overwhelmed by two players; LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Both players characterized their time and were amazingly skilled, leaders, and competitive. LeBron is regarded as one of the best players of the modern game due to his versatility and his attitude to play as a team. Jordan can be regarded to be the greatest of late 1980s and 1990s due to his dominance in scores and personal brilliance (Li, 2024). Despite the great resumes of both the players, I would pick LeBron James to be the first player to build a franchise since basketball is a team game and his entire skill set will be of benefit to the entire team.

I. LeBron James Is a More Rounded Off Player than Jordan.

LeBron James is unique due to the fact that his entire game is complete. LeBron is not only influencing the numbers of all his statistical categories on the field as opposed to many of the superstars who only excel at one particular area.

A. He is a better passer and playmaker.

Creating opportunities to others is one of the main strengths of LeBron. He is nearly a point guard at his size, the driving force behind the offense, and an easy set-up man to his colleagues. He has been averaging a lot of assists and usually tops the team in assists. He makes decisions that are shrewd, his court vision enables him to view the plays before they unfold and he is good under pressure. Although Jordan was an excellent passer, playmaking did not feature within his game as it is with LeBaron.

B. He Can Defend Every Five Positions.

LeBron is physically strong and athletic, which enables him to play all defensive roles on the field. He can fight with power forwards and centers using his power but he can be fast enough to keep up with guards. Such a versatility provides the flexibility of coaches in defensive matches and enables his team to have easy changes in defensive tasks (Bourne, 2021). The capacity to protect five spots is very useful, more so in the modern game where positionless basketball is the order of the day.

C. He possesses one of the best basketball IQs.

LeBron is also intelligent when it comes to basketball. He knows how to manage time, spacing, defensive rotations as well as offensive strategy at the best level. He consults fast defenses and makes amends in the game. The fact that he is also able to regulate the rhythm and make the right play at the right moment demonstrates the level of his knowledge of the game(Clark, 2025). This intelligence level is, so to speak, a star player as well as a leader on the field.

II. Michael Jordan Is a Better Person One-on-One Player Than LeBron.

LeBron can be more complete but on the other hand, Jordan is superior in individual dominance and scoring skills.

A. He Has 10 Scoring Titles

The scoring record of Jordan is self-explanatory. All 10 scoring titles he won testify to the fact that during several years he was the most powerful player in the league in terms of offense. He was able to score in the mid-range, run to the basket aggressively, and finish violently. His jumping and fading away shot became almost impossible to stop.

B. He Won Defensive Player of the Year.

Jordan was not only a star on offense but he was elite defensively. His dedication to the two sides of the court can be demonstrated by winning Defensive Player of the Year. He was rough, competitive and would never hesitate to protect the best perimeter player of the opposing team. His scoring capacity was as great as his defensive intensity.

C. He was more adaptive in a one-on-one situation.

In individual scenarios, Jordan had a stronger hand due to his ingenuity and murderous instinct. He excelled in plays where there is isolation and could also assume control of the game. His confidence and competitiveness made him very dangerous at the crucial times. Had the game been reduced to one possession, most individuals would have given Jordan the opportunity to make his own shot.

Conclusion

Both LeBaron James and Michael Jordan are credited as two of the best players in basketball history. The discussion seems to be split as in between two periods and two forms of greatness. Jordan is a symbol of personal superiority and scoring prowess, whereas LeBaron is an all-round influence, leadership, and versatility. In case of having a franchise, I would take LeBron James since he is the best team player because he has a passing, defensive flexibility, and basketball IQ. Jordan might be the more superior individual scorer, but LeBaron has the advantage of uplifting his teammates, thus giving him an advantage in a team oriented game.
