Compares means between two variables

Assignment task:

Choose one of the following stat tests and briefly explain off the top of your head (based on the definitions provided below) how it could be used in a health science research project: In Unit 4 we will have a discussion on the following inferential tests. Pick one and briefly explain how it could be (or was) used in a health science research project. This can be off the top of your head or from a published example.

1. t test: Compares means between two variables, eg, Covid rates between two states.

2. ANOVA (stands for analysis of variance): Compares means between three or more variables, eg. Covid rates among five selected states.

3. Correlation: Compares the relationship between two variables like forehead temperature and body weight. Why would it not make sense for a t test for comparing means in this example? Here are a couple of my home-made video on doing correlation in Excel and in PSPP:

Example 1: Temperatures vs cone sales at: YouTube Video: Hart correlation

Example 2: Ascent in running vs mean pace at: YouTube Video: Hart correl of pace vs ascent

4. Regression: Similar to correlation. Regression compares one or more predictor variables (eg, height, weight, and body temperature) to an outcome variable (eg, blood pressure) to
