Essay Topic: Ideology
Guidelines:
Be sure to follow all formatting guidelines provided in the syllabus. Your final work product must have a cover page with a word count, an essay that is 3 to 4 pages in length and a works cited page. The minimum writing requirement is two full pages in your own words (without cited material) and the minimum research requirement is two scholarly sources. If the minimum expectations are not met, the assignment will be marked incomplete. Be sure to provide a proper citation in MLA or APA format for all works consulted in the body of the essay and on a separate works cited page.
Essay Prompts:
? Compare and contrast the ways in which one of the main ideologies (i.e. liberalism, socialism, conservatism, etc) has changed from its classical origins to the contemporary forms it takes.
? To what extent has the selected ideology transformed itself? Can one still call it (for example) socialism?
? In examining these questions, you should be able to conclude whether there is a core of that school of thought which survives and gives it lasting meaning.
