Meiosis with Chromosomal Aberration
1) Compare the gametes generated in the endproduct of meiosis with the gametes of the endproduct of meiosis with crossed over chromosomes. What is the impact of crossing over on the genetic make up of haploid gametes? Can the outcome of crossing over be predicted? Why or why not?
2) Compare the gametes that would be generated in end product of Meiosis with the gametes of the end product of meiosis with one chromosome having a gene mutation. What is the impact of chromosomal aberration during Meiosis I? What would happen if any of the gametes produced from Meiosis I with chromosomal aberration (homologous pair did not separate during anaphase) were crossed with any of the gametes produced from the endproduct of MeiosisII ? (crossing an abnormal gamete with a normal gamete)
3) Is there any way that an aberration during Meiiosis I or Meiosis II can result in an offspring with a normal genome?
