Compare and contrast hypothalamic kisspeptin production

Assignment task: Because Susan likes to work with patients in addition to her corporate job she advises for free at a fertility clinic that sees the flowing clients:

Kathy is 27 years old and a professional body builder.  Her body fat content is below the normal range. She has been taking a highly effective (90%) aromatase inhibitor for the past 6 months and it has helped her gain significantly more muscle.

Lily is 25 years old and severely obese with a BMI of 40.

Mary is 26 years old, and she is also a professional body builder.  She has the same body fat content as Kathy.  Because Kathy was outcompeting Mary with her added muscle mass, Mary decided to start taking 4 months ago high doses of anabolic steroids (in her case a mixture of DHEA, and androstenedione), and she has already increased her muscle mass.

Nancy is 24 years old and her weight, percent body fat and BMI are all ideal for her age.  She has a very regular ovulatory cycle.

Olivia is 27 years old.  Her weight, percent body fat and BMI are all ideal for her age and equivalent to Nancy's values.  Because she had mutations in her BRCA I and II genes she elected to have a double mastectomy and ovariectomy 1 year ago after harvesting oocytes for potential future in vitro fertilization.

Pam is 24 years old and is a long distance runner that is lean and has the same body fat content as Kathy.  During the past year she has ovulated about every 2 months.
