Compare and contrast an element of fiction

Questions:

Compare and Contrast an Element of Fiction

I am stuck on a paper I have to write in my Freshmen College English class. The topic of the paper is as follows:

Compare/Contrast at least one element of fiction in at least stories. You can choose either formal element- such as setting, characters, narrator, or plot- or a theme, such as adolescence or black people's social position in 20th southern society.

The 2 stories I have chosen to write on is "Sweat" by Zora Hurston and "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker. The problem I am having is I can't seem to find 3 good points that are different and/or similar with these stories. My teacher really wants us to think about the characters, plot, setting and other elements and why the author put them in the stories.

If you could, I was wondering if you could give me some advice and help with finding 3 points I can cover in my paper.
