Companion Animal Medicine
Most of the concepts that apply to humans also apply to our companion animal friends, an important thing to remember when your best friend gets sick and you head to the veterinarian with him or her. This assignment asks you to research one of the following issues in companion animal medicine:

-While dogs do not live long enough to develop the arterial plaque that causes myocardial infarctions, heart failure is common. Why?
-Why is careful, regular dental prophylaxis so important in companion animals and what can happen when it isn't performed regularly?
-How is cancer diagnosed and treated in companion animals? Consider radiography, ultrasound, nuclear imaging and radiation therapy in your paper.
-Can dogs and cats suffer brain attacks (strokes) and is the cause the same as in humans? If not, why not?
Please remember, your best friend needs regular preventive care, early detection of health problems and the same aggressive treatment that you or any other member of your family expects. It's up to you, because animals hide pain and won't tell you that something is wrong.
