Collisions in one dimension-force and impulse

Assignment:

Question 1. A rubber ball of mass 0.05kg is dropped from a height of 10 cm above a table top. it bounces off the table and rises to the same height.

a. What is the shape of the graph of the force exerted on the ball by the table as a function of time?

b. If the rubber ball was in contact with the table for 30ms, what is the avg force exerted on the ball by the table?

c. The rubber ball has been replaced by a clay ball with the same mass and size. The clay ball is dropped from the same height and it sticks to the table. What is the impulse exerted on the clay ball and how does it compare to the rubber ball?

d. If the collision of the clay ball with the table takes the same 30ms as the rubber ball, what is the avg force exerted by the table on the clay ball and how does it compare to that exerted on the rubber ball?

e. If the clay had twice the mass and is dropped from the same height, compare the impulse exerted on the ball by the table to that of the smaller clay ball.

f. If the original clay ball is dropped from twice the height, compare the impulse exerted on the ball by the table to that for the smaller height.
