cohesion-adhesion theory describes the properties

Cohesion-adhesion theory describes the properties of water which help move it through the plant. Cohesion is the property of water molecules to stick together (held by hydrogen bonds), forming the column of water extending from the roots to the leaves; adhesion is the propert of water molecules to stick to the cellulose in plant cell walls, counteracting the force of gravity and serving to rise the column of water.
