Co-evolution of a predator and prey

1) A population of grasshoppers in the Kansas prairie consists of two color phenotypes, green and brown. Usually, the prairie received adequate water to maintain the healthy and green grass. Suppose that a bird which eats grasshoppers moves into the prairie. How will this influence natural selection of the grasshoppers? Explain how might this change in a drought year?

2) Explain a scenario involving co-evolution of a predator and prey. What might you expect when the two species initially co-occur? What might you expect after 20 generations?

3) Explain some features of mutations.
