Classification of polymers - Elastomers
The polymers which have elastic character such as rubber (a material that can return to its unique shape after stretching is said to be elastic) are termed as elastomers. In elastomers the polymers sequential chains are held together through weak intermolecular forces. Due to the presence of weak forces, the polymers may be simply extended by applying small stress and regains their unique shape when the stress is replaced. The very significant type of elastomers is natural rubber.
