Christine had sold seven homemade electrical drills over the past six weeks. Mike went in and purchased a drill from Christine on May 31, 2000. Christine hired an independent engineer that was an expert in drills to inspect her homemade electrical drills before they were sold to ensure that they were safe. Approximately two years later, Mike was seriously injured because the drill was defective.
