Air Pollution Disasters
Question 1: Choose one of the air pollution disasters described in Chapter 1 (Meuse River Valley, 1934; Donora Pennsylvania, 1948; or London, 1952), and discuss the incident in detail. What were the causes and consequences of the disaster? Your response should contain additional information not covered in the textbook.
Question 2: Research the major sources and emissions of air pollution in your community (www.scorecard.org is a good place to start). What chemicals are they emitting, and how are these chemicals transported through your community (non-point sources, smokestacks, etc.)? Were you surprised at the results? Do you plan to take any action based on the information you discovered?
