1. Choose Emily Dickinson to research and write about this week.
2. Reread her assigned poems in your Norton Anthology textbook.
3. Using your library resources (as detailed on the Library & Learning Resource Centerpage in the Course Materials section of this course), research a minimum of 3 to 5 academic sources that contain relevant and detailed information about your chosen poet. (Need help? Check with your instructor or the librarian. Contact information is listed on the Library & Learning Resource Centerpage.)
4. In a 2-3 page double-spaced essay, highlight one or two of the main characteristics of your chosen poet and her work. Strike a balance between stating your own insights, based on the poems you read, and the information you found when you researched your chosen poet.
5. As always, your summary will be graded based on the Writing Summary Criteria included in the Course Materials. If you are feeling "rusty" in your summary writing after two weeks of other written work, you may want to briefly review the expectations before you complete your assignment for this week.
