Choose an artist either from your text or outside your text. This can be any artist working in any time, but the work must be either painting, drawing, or printmaking. You can choose an artist who's work you like or dislike. Make a list of 30 artistic influences that played on this artist's work. Be specific and cite your sources. The influences can branch out. For example, you can cite other artists who influenced your artist, and then the artists or movements that influenced them. You can also use historic events which had impact on your artist. For example, Picasso was highly influenced by the Spanish Civil War. Follow the threads back from your artist in as many ways as possible. Tie your artist to as much context as possible. Be creative in your research approaches. Thirty influences are sufficient. Please limit it to fifty. I would choose a fairly famous artist about whom much has been written. Remember, keep track of and list your sources.
