Directions: The Chinese American museum represents a significant moment in 18th , 19th and 20th century California history, as well as Multicultural U.S. History.
After you visit the historical site, you are to write a 7 to 8 page report (double spaced, one inch margins on all sides. The 7 to 8 pages does not include the bibliography, which will be an extra page.
You are to find at least 3 to 4 Historical Sources for your site. These have to be OUTSIDE sources, you CANNOT USE THE CLASS MATERIAL AS YOUR HISTORICAL SOURCES.
(These can be books, academic journal articles, primary historical documents. No web pages/internet sources allowed, such as Wikipedia, etc…!!) If you are unsure, you need to check with the professor. You should choose historical sources that relate to your site in regards to theme and content.
3. Write up your project (ONE site visit and bibliography)
You must include the following questions in your report/site visit:
(Write up should be organized in essay format with introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion. Each of this questions need to be answered fully. Be sure to proof-read your project for spelling and grammar errors)
• What your impressions of the site? Include a brief description of what you saw? Give examples of exhibits and information? What did you learn? Give examples (3 pages)
• Why is this site significant to California and Multicultural U.S. History? (at least ½ a page to 1 full page)
• Did you see any influences of “racialization” (using Menchaca’s and Takaki’s definitions) in how this site portrayed or imaged historical events and/or people ? (at least 1/2 a page)
• Using your outside sources/research, include a brief examination/analysis of how it contributes to understanding of this historical site. (This should be at least 2 pages of the report and you should use short quotes from your sources as supporting evidence to your analysis)

Could you connect this site to any issues that we have been discussing in class? (Give examples of specific lectures or readings that connect to your site and use short quotes) And you may also add any questions, final comments, etc. you may have as a result of doing this project. (At least 1 full page)

Any direct copying of information about each site is considered plagiarism and no credit will be given for the assignment.
