Childs compliance with wearing a medical alert bracelet

Problem: Create a discussion response to: After reading Cook et al, I found that the researchers used a changing criterion design to increase a child's compliance with wearing a medical alert bracelet. They gradually increased the amount of time the child was expected to wear the bracelet and measured whether he met each goal. Looking at the graphs, I noticed an overall increasing trend, with the level of bracelet wearing increasing as the criteria increased and very little variability in the data. I believe a functional relationship was demonstrated because the child's behavior changed consistently as each new criterion was introduced, showing that the intervention likely influenced the behavior. One recommendation I would make is to include more participants so the researchers could determine whether the intervention would be effective with other children as well, and to collect additional data at each criterion level to further strengthen the findings.
