Children in the service as a medical history with grommets

Problem:

One of the children in the service as a medical history with Grommets and is not able to hear properly. As the educator I do have to communicate with him in a non-verbal manner by showing him stop with my hands, go down to his level facing him and have the child looking at me before I communicate with him as to have the child understand and focus on what I am saying to him and have him respond to me that he is listening and that I as the educator am aware he understood me. The child does have a speech delay as well but is seeking speech therapy, as the educator I do encourage him to answer me when I do communicate with him and has his attention so that I can assist and help rectify him with his words and that way knowing I have his attention by first establishing non-verbal communication first. I am not in the particular child's room, but I do have interaction and supervision with this child in the morning and afternoon time and assist on keeping the child safe and engaged.  Briefly explain the improvement you made to your own self and social awareness?
