Assignment Task:

Problem 1) By equivalent seismic load method, obtain the normal force and moment (for x-dir) values for the below combinations for the ground floor columns (for 15 columns) using the Sap2000 software. Each student will choose a place for the building in Turkey (except from Sile region).

a) G+Q+0.3Ey+Ex (for x-dir)

b) G+Q+Ey-0.3Ex (for x-dir)

Problem 2) By equivalent seismic load method, check the Torsional Irregularity and Interstorey Stiffness Irregularity (Soft Storey) for the building. Use excel program for calculations. (For EXP +0.05)

Problem 3) By using mode combination method, obtain the normal force and moment (for x-dir) values for the below combinations for the ground floor columns (for 15 columns) using the Sap2000 software. The same region will be used as in Question-1.

a) G+Q+0.3Specy+Specx

b) G+Q+Specy-0.3Specx

Information:

All beams are 30cm x 60cm

The slab thickness is 16cm

The necessary information for the seismic calculations are given in excel file. R, "structural system behavior factors" will be chosen from the table at Turkish seismic code.

The G=1.E kN/m2 (excluding concrete weight) will be affected as Q=2.E kN/m2 on the slabs. Storey weights will be calculated by the Sap2000 software.

Inner wall loads and outer wall loads will be taken as 1 kN/m and 2.75 kN/m respectively. It is assumed that there are walls on all the beams.
