Change in velocity throughout the collision

On a test track, an SUV of 2000 kg mass traveling at 12 m/s strikes a stationary car of mass 1000 kg. The car crumples and stays in contact with the SUV; they move altogether as a unit.

i) Without computations, which vehicle undergoes a greater change in velocity throughout the collision? Determine how do you know?

ii) Without computations, when you can intuitively guess the post collision speed of the two vehicles, what would it be?

iii) Compute the post collision speed by using momentum.

iv) When you got stuck in part (ii), do you see a way which you could have guessed the post collision speed?
