Assume that a steel strut having a cross-sectional area of 3.00 x 10-4 m2 and length 2.80 m is bolted among the two rigid bulkheads in the engine room of a submarine. Suppose that the density of steel is similar as that of iron (7.86 x 103 kg/m3).

(i) Compute the change in temperature of the strut when it absorbs an energy of 3.00 x 105 J of thermal energy.
