The Assigned Case
Title: Josh Hardy and Chimerix, Inc.
Where to find it: The following two articles:

Please read the above articles carefully and consider doing some online research about the case before starting to work on the assignments.
Please answer the following questions in your report separately:
• Write a summary of the case (approximately 100-150 words).
• Identify (and explain) the ethical issues that have arisen in this case.
• Identify (and explain) all of the stakeholders in the case, and thoroughly discuss each of their viewpoints (e.g. needs, desires, concerns, costs, benefits, power, etc.).
• Identify (and explain in details) all ethical principles, that if employed, could have help prevent the ethical issue(s) observed in the case, or if employed now, could help prevent the ethical issue(s) observed in the case from occurring in the future.
• Using the ethical approaches you have identified, recommend a plan of action for the company that will help the company remain competitive and avoid such problems in the future.
• Explain the expected positive and negative consequences of the plan of action you recommend.
Recommendations:
1. Before you begin writing, read the instructions and the case twice. Then review the sample assignments.
2. As you write, fully incorporate relevant theory and concepts in the text and the readings into your answers to maximize your score. Tie your action plan to ethical principles that support your ideas.
3. Consider ‘turning the question’ into the beginning of your answer. That is, if the question is, “What are the key issues?” begin your answer with; “The key issues” (include or are). This may seem simplistic, but is a very effective way to help you focus your answer on the question(s) asked and to earn full credit.
4. Remember to use the free writing assistance provided by UHV. You will get an extra 10 point (of the assignment grade) if you submit two paragraphs of your case answers for assistance with English grammar and writing toUHV's Online Tutoring Center.
To be eligible for full credit, please see the grading rubric in Parts I and Parts II and follow these guidelines:
1. Please answer the questions using complete sentences. The answers to subsequent questions require you to build upon your prior answers so be thorough. The assigned points reflect the difficulty and/or the amount of information that’s reasonably related to the question and/or should be used.
2. Please do not:
i. Repeat the entire question in your answer. Use this space for your answers.
ii. Skip lines or include blank lines. Use these lines for your answers.
iii. Exceed page limits.
Deductions:
a. Failure to type. Hand written assignments will not be accepted, nor graded.
b. Not writing your name and student ID on the header.
c. Failure to type in Word (double-space, font size 12, Times Roman, 1 inch margins on 4 sides).
d. Failure to number and label all parts of your answer. Do not combine!
e. Exceeding the page limit (8 pages).
f. Failure to ‘spell-check’, ‘grammar-check’, and virus-check your submission.
g. Timeliness.
