CAPP for Machining Process
This explained mainly two different approaches to Computer Aided Process Planning, i.e.
(a) Variant approach, and
(b) Generative approach.
In variant systems, parts are grouped into a number of part families, characterised by similarity in manufacturing methods. This technique is depending on the use of Group Technology (GT). This system might be implemented in two stages that mean preparatory stage & production stage. Database systems play a vital role in variant process planning systems. This unit also discusses the method to build a database structure. There are three approaches to construct a database: network, hierarchical & relational.
It is significant that before releasing the process plan for production proper editing is done and all of the process parameters are included for the smooth flow of production.
