Can you be moral without being religious and can you be

1- Can you be moral without being religious? And can you be religious without being moral?

The first step toward answering these questions would be to define the term religious. To some people religious means one thing and to others it means another. In order to have a logical and valuable discussion therefore, the parties must come to an agreement regarding the term "religious."

For the purpose of this discussion we will state that "religious" means - "observing the sacraments and/ or rituals of a particular religious belief system". For example a "religious" Christian would be one who goes to church regularly, prays, tithes money, reads the Bible, and follows the commands of the Bible. In other words a religious person is concerned with doing the right things according to the traditions of the religion he/she follows.

Secondly we need to define moral. For the purposes of this argument "moral" means - having a standard of right and wrong and choosing to live by that absolute standard.

Using these two definitions here is the conclusion we come to regarding these questions.
