1) The moving mirror in an FTIR interferometer travels 2.000 cm during a scan. Calculate the resolution of the resulting spectrum. Report your answer in wavenumber units (cm-1).

2) The yellow light emitted by sodium atoms is caused by a 3p-3s electronic transition. Calculate the ratio of the intensities of this yellow light emitted at 3200K relative to 2800K. Assume that all sodium atoms are either in the 3s or 3p state and neglect any effects due to ionization.
