Calculate the regression line for fathers score predicting

Occupational prestige scores for a sample of fathers and their oldest son and daughter are show in the following table.

Calculate the regression line for father's score predicting daughter's score (round each number to the nearest hundredth). your answer should be in the form of y' = bx+a

(FAMILY) (FATHERS PRESTIGE) (SONS PRESTIGE) (DAUGHTERS PRESTIGE)
(A) (80) (85) (82)
(B) (78) (80) (77)
(C) (75) (70) (68)
(D) (70) (75) (77)
(E) (69) (72) (60)
(F) (66) (60) (52)
(G) (64) (48) (48)
(H) (52) (55) (57)

For father's and daughter's prestige only, do the following:

a) Draw a scattergram, and a freehand regression line.

b) Compute the slope and the intercept. Interpret them. Add the real regression line to the graph above.

c) State the least-squares regression line. What prestige score would you predict for a daughter whose father had a prestige score of 72? Of 54?

d) calculate and interpret r and r2

e) Describe the strength and direction of the relationships in a science or two. Does the occupation prestige of the father have an impact on his children? Does it have the same impact for daughters as it does for sons?

Q Data on three variables have been collected for 15 nations. The variables are fertility rate (average number of children born to each woman), education for females (expressed as a percentage of all students at the secondary level who are female), and percent of married women ages 15-49 using all forms of contraception

Percent of Fertility Education of Women Using Nation Rate* Females* Contraception† Bolivia a. Compute r and r2 for each combination of variables.

b. Summarize these relationships in terms of strength and direction

Nation Fertility Rate  Education of Females Percent of women using contraception
Niger 71 38.4 11
Cambodia 3.9 35.6 51
Guatemala 4.3 46.9 54
Ghana  4.1 44.7 24
Bolivia  3.7 48.2 61
Kenya 5 47.6 46
Dominican Republic  2.7 54.8 73
Mexico 2.1 50.5 73
Vietnam  1.8 47.1 78
Turkey 2 37.5 73
United States 2 49 79
China 1.8 45 3 85
United Kingdom  2.4 52.7 84
Japan 1.3 49 54
Italy 1.3 48.1 60

Q The residents of a housing development for senior citizen have completed a survey in which they indicated how physically active they are and how many visitors they receive each week. Are these two variables related for the 10 cases reported here? Draw a scattergram and compute r and r2.

Find the least squares regression line. what would be the predicted number of visitors for a person whose level of activity was 5. How about a person who scored 18 on level of activity.
