Calculate the pressure of the air when the whole

a. The space above the mercury column in a thermometer ordinarily is evacuated, but due to faulty manufacture, a particular thermometer has a pressure of 2 mmHg of air in this space when the hole thermometer is immersed in a bath at 0 0C. Calculate the pressure of the air when the whole thermometer is immersed in a bath at 100 0C. As the figure below shows, at 0 0C, the length of air space is 10 cm; and at 100 0C, it is 2 cm. b. A person blows air (creating bubbles) through a straw that is inserted into water such that the bottom of the straw is 1.00 m below the surface. What is the pressure in the person's mouth if the atmospheric pressure is 1.00 bar? Give your answer in pascals.
