Purchased land for $40,000 and paid $16,000 to demolish the old building on it. Cost to build a new building on that land is $450,000. I have paid $320,000 towards the $450,000 to date in construction. Do I add the $16,000 to the $320,000 to calculate my amortization expense for the year?
