Essay Assignment: The Example Essay
- Young people spend a lot of time interacting with modern media (TV, internet, video games, etc.). Has this media been a good influence or a bad influence on young people? Write an essay which uses examples to support your point of view.
Purpose: By explaining your topic in this essay you should relate what you have gained from your experience with this place, person, or media. How has this made a difference in your life? Your purpose is to explain to your instructor and your classmates what you have learned from your experience.
Requirements:
- Your essay should be around 800 words (at least 700; no more than 1000).
- Include an effective introductory paragraph that includes a hook, thesis statement, and essay map.
- You must write at least three body (developmental) paragraphs.
- You must also include several specific examples in your developmental paragraphs; one of them should be an extended example.

- Write a strong conclusion paragraph which restates the thesis and offers a closing idea (recommendation, prediction, "words of wisdom", etc.).
