But can we in a business setting differentiate between our

Writing is really getting to be a lost art. Most of us (and I said most) have the verbal part down. Of course, we could all stand to get better with the listening part but that could be a whole course in itself! When it comes to writing, have we become too casual in our communication with each other? I can still remember the first time I sent a fax to someone! It was exciting in business to be able to fax written information and receive it back. Now we take e-mailing for granted. In fact, most of us don't e-mail, we text each other. GCC has all kinds of Facebook pages and you can now follow GCC on Twitter!! And please don't get me started about im'img and texting. It is nice when a student can im me online and get a question answered quickly. But sometimes I must admit, it takes me a few minutes to figure out what some students are saying or asking! I don't naturally get the jargon. Sometimes figuring out the grammar and punctuation is difficult. Technology lets us stay so connected to one another. But can we, in a business setting, differentiate between our casual communication and that of a more formal nature? I would love to hear your take on this. Are we better connected to one another or has this connection left something to be desired? Is it too casual?
