The goal of this assignment is to deepen your understanding of advertising.

The task is as follows.

View the 1999 London International Advertising Awards.

Select THREE of the award-winning ads that you thought were particularly effective. At least one (but more are possible) of the ads should originate outside of the United States.

Briefly describe each ad and analyze them for the message and target audience.

Consider a range of questions that the ads raise. Examples include techniques used to garner attention, how product type influences the presentation and why television is an appropriate medium.

For the ad produced outside the United States, analyze any differences you find from U.S. advertising. Answer the question of whether the ad would work in the United States. Is its message meaningful? Would it have access to U.S. media, or are there issues of violence, language or sexuality?

The output will consist of a three to four-page paper (NOTE: Papers must have a brief introduction and conclusion).
