The cultural of the organization changed when a new CEO was took over. He hired and promoted several people to senior management positions which are al women. This is a change from the previous SM as they were all men. Seasoned staff members had a difficult time adjusting to the changes and have since left the organization. The organization struggles with effective communication and the staff feels that the agency needs to be more transparent.. Many of the new staff is credentialed and the older staff is not, therefore the new comers are seen as more valuable to the organization and they move up the ladder quickly. The culture of the organization use to be more family like, however now it is run like a business. The staff seems to have a difficult time understanding that as an organization it is a business but the organization still hold on the concept of family with the clients. Although people continue to apply for positions at this agency it is located in an urban area where violence is prevalent every day. Substance users and homeless people live in the park across the street. This is a concern for visitors and the loved ones of the clients. There is not enough parking for the agency and staff and visitors park near a drug infested apartment complex. There are several residential buildings that are operated by the organization. The largest is an adult male population, a womens program, young male and adolescent program. There are two staff members assigned on duty at a time, tey have groups IC and recreation. The go on passes and the length of stay varies on the indidivual participation and court ordered stipulations. The population of staff and clients is diverse. The womens program has a population of 35 and there is only 6 African Americans. The men's program is 90 and there population is relatively African Americans and the same goes for the young and adolescent male population.
