Conservation and preservation were movements that flourished in the United States in the early twentieth century. Both are still prominent today as conservation in the form of government agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service and the 'Wise Use' movement, and preservation in the form of the Sierra Club and allied organizations. Both movements demonstrate a concern over how the environment, especially public land is used. How, then, are the movements different?
