A - Calcium is very important for the development of the bones in children. In the early years of development, this mineral along with vitamin D helps in the absorption of other minerals that contribute to the development of strong bones. The intake of calcium must increase for children to feel agile and strong. As we age maintaining a balanced diet and exercise will help maintain a strong skeletal system, a good source of calcium are dairy products. There are many consequences when there is a lack of calcium in the bones, for example Rickets can develop when this mineral and Vitamin is lacking. The bones become weak and soft that could brake easily. For children Rickets develops when they are lacking exposure to sunlight for the development of Vitamin D and Osteomalacia will develop in adults.
