Biota of Estuaries
The estuarine community is a mixture of three components:
- Marine
- Fresh water and
- Brackish water
but overall estuarine diversity is still lower than that of the river or marine community. This is because of tremendous variation in the estuary's physical environment. Thus, the great productivity of estuaries is built on a narrow base.
