It is very important that when you are recovering evidence from a sex crimes scene, any evidence that is recovered for DNA analysis is recovered, packaged, and stored in a specific manner in order that the evidence is not destroyed or made unusable in the crime lab. For example, there will likely be semen and hair that are recovered from the scene that need to be recovered.
