Benzyl alcohol has a boiling point of 205 C. It has solubility characteristics that would seem to make it a good choice for use as a recrystallization solvent for fluorenol (mp 153-155 C), but in fact benzyl alcohol is a poor choice of solvent for this recrystallization. Why do you think this is?
