Industrialization has made America one of the greatest superpowers in the world. But that economic growth and prosperity has come with a price. In the early days of the Industrial Revolution in America factories spewed millions of tons of pollution into the air. With the advent of air quality standards in the United States this industrial pollution has been significantly reduced.
- Do the economic benefits of industrialization outweigh the economic costs?
- Are there examples in place today of manufacturers and/or retailers who have taken steps to reduce their pollution impact, both air quality and industrial pollution, on our environment while maintaining a viable place in the markets in which they compete?
