Belief that child sex offenders should never be released

Problem: There is an overwhelming belief that child sex offenders should never be released from prison, but this of course, is unreasonable and unconstitutional given our current legal response to child sexual offenses. The question is: how do we deal with these offenders in a way that protects not only their civil rights, but also the rights of society? Additionally, the myth that sex offenders continue to commit sexual crimes against children frequently is not accurate as commonly believed (only about 13% reoffend). What is a pedophile? How is this different than being classified as a sexual predator? Can a child sex offender ever be "cured"? How do we determine if a sex offender is ready to be released from prison - or should they ever be released in your opinion? Do you believe that notification laws like the sex offender registry and the residency restrictions on the books in some states actually prevent reoffending and protect society as they are intending? Why or why not? Can you provide me with one or two scholarly APA-formatted citations/references? Barlow, D. H., Durand, V. M., & Hofmann, S. H. G. (2023).
