1 SMART Objective

Before embarking on any project, setting an overall target objective can assist you to focus on the main purpose and aims of the project. You are required to devise a SMART objective for your virtual project. The SMART objective is likely to take around 30 minutes to complete if you brainstorm first and then write the objective.

The start date for your construction project should be November 1 2014 and the completion date January 1 2015.

2 SWOT analysis

Your project will have both advantages and disadvantages and many factors should be considered before embarking on it. To be fully aware of all the advantages, disadvantages and possibilities that may arise, you need to develop and present a SWOT analysis.

Please use the template provided in Vital. Each box should contain 8-10 points.This task should be completed as a team; you need to brainstorm your ideas at one of your meetings and this is likely to take 60minutes if done properly.

Each point should be expressed as a short note that can be understood by any reader. Just writing a threat as "Earthquake!" is not good enough.

Your submission should include the SWOT analysis and a short description of what you learned from it (3, below).

You should consider your SWOT and Smart objectives from the point of view of the Senior Management of the engineering company. You are one of ten project teams working on a specific project, and they need to analyse the issues relevant to your ability to complete that project.
