Question - Search the Internet or NCC Library Online for a news article published in the past year (January 2016 to date) on a reputable newspaper, magazine, or other (news or corporate) websites about one of the following topics:
- an oligopolistic market,
- an oligopolistic firm, OR
- a challenged merger in an industry dominated by a few large firms
Hint: the word oligopoly as boolean may not lead you to as many articles as "high market concentration", "market concentration", or "proposed mergers in markets". Study chapter 14 and be creative when searching.
Label your post: D5 - Name of the good or service provided by the industry your report is based on. No repeat industries, please.
Based on your research of the particular industry your article is discussing, answer the following questions (in bullet form):
1. How many firms dominate the market that the article is discussing?
2. How are the firms (or firm) in the article doing in terms of economic profits?
3. Is the market discussed local, regional, national or international?
4. What is your conclusion about the situation of the market you studied?
