Based on the results of the rating calculations in part b

Design a heat exchanger for the service of problem 5.8 using:

(a) Xist.

(b) TASC.

problem 5.8:
90,000 lb/h of benzene will be heated from 75°F to 145°F by cooling a stream of orthotoluidine from 230°F to 150°F. Inlet pressures are 45 psia for ortho-toluidine and 50 psia for benzene. A maximum pressure drop of 10 psi is specified for each stream. Properties of ortho-toluidine at 190°F are given below.

(a) Develop an initial configuration for a shell-and-tube heat exchanger to meet this service.

(b) Perform the rating calculations for the initial configuration developed in part (a).

(c) Based on the results of the rating calculations in part (b), specify what changes, if any, should be made to the configuration of the heat exchanger for the next trial.

(d) Use HEXTRAN or other available software to rate the initial configuration developed in part (a).
