BALLISTIC FLIGHT:

 "A flight in which a projectile is given a starting push and is permitted to move freely due to inertia and under the action of gravity is known as ballistic flight".

USES:

(i ) Ballistic missiles are useful only for short ranges for which initial velocity 'vi' is not very large.

(ii) For long ranges and greater accuracy, powered and control guided missiles are used.
