Problem: Respond to the student post in 4-5 sentences. "Balancing external behavioral control while being able to manage internal cognitive engagement is evidently important while teaching as both play different roles in how students learn and process. External behavioral control, such as, expectations, routines, and boundaries help conduct a structured classroom environment where students not only are able to feel safe, but also know what is expected of them. By taking away that forms of structure, students may be subject to having a much more harder time focusing and staying on task. Additionally, students need to not only be physically engaged, but also mentally so that they can retain information and learn what is being taught to them, that way no one is falling behind. Internal cognitive engagement comes into play when students are using critical thinking skills, making connections within the curriculum, and are interested and curious about learning, they are more likely to digest and understand the material at hand. As a future educator, I feel this means every classroom has a set balance between external behavioral control and internal cognitive engagement and it's important to find that balance for the benefit of the students. If children lack motivation, that just leads to not only a miserable experience on their end, but, this makes learning and teaching more difficult. By being able to set clear expectations and class rules, that acts as a foundation for a smooth operating. Need Assignment Help?
