Assignment Task:
The purpose of this activity is to highlight awareness of the fact that we belong to many different groups that can be said to have distinct cultural identities, and that the boundaries among these groups are fluid. Ethnic dress ensembles may not be truly "authentic" because traditional materials are no longer available and modern ones must be substituted. Overlap may occur in the case of wedding rings or other markers of individual identity.
Identify the various groups, large and small, in which we participate through the days, weeks, or seasons of life. Identify and show examples of typical dress for each. Examples might include (but are not limited to: the corporate cultural expectations where you work, childhood organizations, social cliques from high school, sports groups, family, ethnic events, leisure activities, and travel.
