Your manager is keen that all staff develop a greater awareness of external issues and trends that are impacting on the business as he/she feels that this knowledge can encourage better understanding of the changes that need to take place at the business. He/she has therefore instructed you to write an article for the staff in-house magazine of a maximum of 2,000 words.
(a) Using a range of secondary sources, analyse how the emergence of new markets is driving change in the travel and tourism sector in general and also relation to your chosen organisation. (Belgraves – a Thompson Hotel, London, UK)
The article should be structured along the following lines but you should be creative with your presentation style. You could for example use images as part of the article.
More specifically, you should also provide detailed examples of how the issue impacts or could impact upon your chosen organisation.
To research the issue, you should use appropriate secondary research methods. This could involve using sources like web-sites of quality business newspapers such as the Financial Times or an equivalent, business magazines such as the Economist and industry sources such as Travel Weekly. At the end of your article you should include a short list of ‘additional reading’ sources that the staff could go to if they want further information on the issue.

(b) Using at least six different sources, analyse the trends in outbound tourism for a tourist generating area of your choice. Consider how these trends influence change in the travel and tourism sector in general and also how your chosen business could be affected.
You can use any location you wish to explore the outbound market depending on where your chosen organisation is based.
You should be creative with your presentation style perhaps by using tables, graphs, charts etc. You should also draw conclusions from your analysis.
Academic and industry sources (books, journals, web-sites) may be relevant.
