Assuming the maximum depth of penetration into the magnetic

An electron is traveling in a straight line with velocity v. At time, t = 0, the electron crosses into a region of space with a uniform magnetic field of magnitude 1 mT. Prior to t = 0, the electron experiences no magnetic field. Note: The charge of an electron is -1.60 x10-19 C and the mass of an electron is 9.11 x 10-31 kg.

a. Assuming the maximum depth of penetration into the magnetic field filled region for the electron is 2 cm, determine how much time would the electron be inside the magnetic field filled region.

b. Assuming the maximum depth of penetration into the magnetic field filled region for the electron is 2 cm, find the speed, |v|, of the electron at t = 0, when the electron first entered the magnetic field filled region.
